Open
an MSDS
Several
options are available when opening an MSDS. This specific screen
displays the functionality of the search tab which lists MSDSs
based on keywords or phrases. Users can also open existing MSDSs
from a complete list of all data sheets, or from an ordered list
of recently opened sheets. The user can choose to base an MSDS
on a predefined template.

A
typical MSDS
This is a typical MSDS as seen in Talos. WYSIWYG ("What You
See Is What You Get") technology allows users to see the actual
layout of the data sheet before printing, reducing the number of
errors made while authoring the MSDS. |

Select
a phrase
Double-clicking on a phrase within the MSDS displays the Replace
a Phrase dialog, which shows all possible phrases available for
this field. The user can choose to select one of the available phrases,
or can create a new phrase instead. When a phrase is selected, a
preview of the RTF equivalent of the text is shown below. Users
can also search for additional phrases by the phrase code or by

creating or editing phrases, users have the option to use different
fonts, sizes, and styles. In addition, any symbols, images, or text
from another area can be pasted into the Phrase Text section. Users
also have the ability to select "favorite" phrases and
special symbols for multiple use. The translate button at the bottom
of the window allows the user to translate English text phrases
to text phrases in different languages which are available within
the system. |

Reorder
fields
All fields within an MSDS section may be ordered in any desired
manner. In addition, all fields have several display options. Each
field can be displayed always, displayed only if it includes at
least one phrase, or hidden always. Multiple MSDS views may have
differently ordered and named fields and sections. Double-clicking
